Who is Wearing Metal?

Wearing Metal is a new wearing parts brand in the UK and is backed by OPICO’s wealth of knowledge and years of experience gained in sales, service and parts supply for agricultural machinery.

OPICO has a well-oiled agricultural parts procurement, stocking and distribution facility for its own brands at Bourne in Lincolnshire and is set up to process orders and ship to UK dealers as well as direct to farms.

Members of the OPICO team who are directly involved with the Wearing Metal brand have decades of experience in setting up, using and supporting the full range of Wearing Metal parts.

Wearing Metal is ideally placed to source and procure wearing parts and then sell and distribute them through the established agricultural dealer network.

Wearing Metal currently stock wearing parts for Kverneland, Lemken, Gregoire Besson and Kuhn ploughs and for the Gregoire Besson Discordon.

Why choose Wearing Metal?

Most Wearing Metal parts are manufactured in the UK, however, we also use a number of trusted overseas suppliers who are specialists in their field.

How do I order from Wearing Metal?

The Detail

Our Wearing Metal branded parts are primarily produced in Sheffield, UK by one of Europe’s fastest growing suppliers of replacement agricultural components.

Using their extensive range of machinery including laser cutting tools, CNC machines, a 500-tonne mechanical press and a 600-tonne counter-blow hammer forge.

All Wearing Metal parts are manufactured to stringent quality standards using chrome boron and high-grade steel which is quenched to achieve the desired strength and hardness for each component. Improved hardness helps to reduce overall costs by extending the life of the part, meaning less downtime and greater peace of mind.

Every production batch is manufactured, tempered and hardened as necessary and then checked for dimensional accuracy and quality by a team of quality inspectors in an on-site lab.

Parts are checked again at OPICO to ensure that they fit together correctly. Key wearing parts fitted with tungsten carbide are also available. The addition of tungsten carbide reduces wear, downtime and ultimately the cost of ownership, providing up to five times the life of a standard part.
